BNP Alleges ‘Deception’: Signature Page Replaced in July Charter
The Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) has escalated its criticism of the National Consensus Commission (NCC), alleging outright fraud in the final document submitted to the interim government.
Ruhul Kabir Rizvi, Senior Joint Secretary General of the BNP, expressed his dismay after providing assistance to a blind person in Rajbari Sadar on Thursday, October 30.
The Allegation of Fraud
Rizvi made a serious accusation regarding the formal July Charter document:
> “The page containing the BNP’s signature in the July Charter has been replaced with another page. This is regrettable,” Rizvi stated.
>
He expressed deep disappointment that such a “deceptive act” would originate from a commission formed by Chief Adviser Dr. Muhammad Yunus, whom he noted has the trust of all political parties.
Trust Betrayed
Rizvi emphasized that the entire political landscape has put faith in the current administration:
> “Everyone trusts the Chief Adviser and the commission he formed. But people do not expect such a fraudulent action to come from that commission. All political parties have supported this government.”
>
He implied that the alleged replacement of the signature page, combined with the earlier omission of the party’s ‘Note of Dissent,’ points to a deliberate attempt to undermine the BNP’s position in the national reform process.
