Shreyas Iyer Discharged from Sydney Hospital, BCCI Arranges Return Home

Shreyas Iyer, the vice-captain of India’s One-Day International (ODI) team, was discharged from a Sydney hospital on Saturday (November 1st) after receiving treatment for an injury. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is now preparing to arrange his return to India. Iyer sustained an injury to his left rib cage while attempting a catch during the third ODI match against Australia.

The exact date of Iyer’s return has not yet been determined. The BCCI will arrange his travel based on his physical condition and the advice of the doctors. Doctors have indicated that his recovery is progressing quickly. He will be flown from Sydney to Mumbai once he is medically cleared.

Injury and Treatment Details

Iyer left the field after sustaining the injury during the match on October 25th and reportedly became unwell after returning to the dressing room. Indian team doctors immediately admitted him to the hospital as a precautionary measure. He had been receiving treatment there since then.

• ICU Stay: Due to internal bleeding, he was kept in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU).

• Treatment: A special treatment procedure was used to heal a laceration on his spleen.

• Discharge: He was moved out of the ICU once his physical condition stabilized.

The BCCI has been involved since the beginning, arranging his medical treatment and ensuring his family members could travel to Australia. It is expected that Iyer will be able to return to competitive cricket after two to three weeks of rest.
