Wife of Ilias Ali, Nominated as BNP Candidate for Sylhet-2

Tahsina Rushdir, the wife of the disappeared BNP leader Ilias Ali, has been nominated as the potential BNP candidate for the Sylhet-2 constituency in the upcoming 13th National Parliamentary Election.

The announcement was made by BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir at a press conference held at the BNP Chairperson’s office in Gulshan, Dhaka, on Monday evening.

The initial list of candidates was finalized earlier during a Standing Committee meeting led by the party’s Acting Chairman, Tarique Rahman.

BNP Election Overview

• Candidate Count: Mirza Fakhrul stated that the party is preparing for a democratic election after 16 long years and is announcing an initial list of potential candidates for approximately 235 constituencies. (Note: The previous report stated 237).

• Alliance Coordination: The BNP will coordinate the remaining seats with its allies in the simultaneous movement.

• Key Leaders’ Seats:

• Khaleda Zia (BNP Chairperson): Will contest from Bogura-7, Dinajpur-3, and Feni-1 constituencies.

• Tarique Rahman (Acting Chairman): Will contest the election for the first time from the Bogura-6 constituency.

• Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir (Secretary General): Will contest from the Thakurgaon-1 constituency.
