Shibir Chief Blasts “July Profiteers,” Demands End to Oppressive Campus Politics

In a fiery address at Carmichael College, the Central President of Islami Chhatra Shibir, Jahidul Islam, launched a sharp attack against those he accuses of betraying the spirit of the recent July mass movement.

The “July Business” Accusation:

Islam warned that a selfish group is trying to exploit the political transition—referring to the July events—to enrich themselves. He vowed, in the name of martyrs like “Abu Said,” that his generation would actively prevent this “business of July” and protect the ideals of those who lost their lives. He powerfully noted that the tears of the martyrs’ families have yet to dry.

A Stand Against Tyranny:

Emphasizing a commitment to vigilance, Islam declared that his organization is prepared to “rise again” to prevent the establishment of any new authoritarian system or “fascism” in the country.

Campus Cleanup Promise:

Perhaps most directly, he promised a complete overhaul of student politics on university campuses:

• No More Hall Seizures: An end to the practice of politically occupying student dormitories.

• No More Freeloading: A ban on the use of force to eat free in campus canteens and burdening other students.

• No Forced Rallies: An end to the coercion and “servitude” used to force students to attend political processions.

The speech signals Shibir’s intent to aggressively position itself as a guardian against both national corruption and campus oppression following the recent regime change
