A shadow hangs over the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) after a special three-member committee delivered a staggering 900-page report detailing alleged corruption, but the BCB is refusing to talk.
The committee—made up of a former Supreme Court justice, a former player, and a high-profile lawyer—spent months digging into 36 suspicious incidents from the last BPL season. Now, they’ve named names: the report reportedly implicates 12 cricketers and other individuals linked to the tournament.
The Controversy Continues:
The BCB’s immediate decision is to say absolutely nothing. While they have promised to use the committee’s recommendations to potentially launch more inquiries (and even bring in help from the ICC’s anti-corruption experts), they’ve kept the lid firmly sealed on the most critical details.
This lack of transparency means no names are being released, and there’s no word yet on whether any of the implicated players or officials will face punishment. The controversy that sparked the investigation is now guaranteed to continue until the BCB decides to disclose its next steps.
To guide their way forward, the BCB has already enlisted Alex Marshall, a former ICC anti-corruption chief, to help navigate the explosive findings of the report.
