BWOT Issues Warning for Thunderstorms and Heavy Rain in 7 Districts, Ultra-Heavy Rain Feared in Some Areas
The Bangladesh Weather Observation Team (BWOT) has issued a warning for thunderstorms and heavy rainfall in seven districts of the country. They also anticipate the possibility of very heavy rainfall (Ultra-Heavy Rain) in a few of these districts.
The BWOT issued this heavy rainfall forecast after 10:00 PM on Tuesday (November 4th).
Forecast Details (November 4 – November 7)
In a Facebook post, the BWOT stated the following expectations for the period from 10:00 PM Tuesday to 10:00 AM Friday (November 7th):
• Heavy Rain & Thunderstorms: There is a possibility of heavy rain accompanied by thunder and gusty winds in Cox’s Bazar, Chattogram, Bandarban, Rangamati, Khagrachhari, Feni, Noakhali, and some surrounding areas.
• Light to Moderate Rain: Light to moderate rainfall is forecast for Cumilla, Lakshmipur, Chandpur, Brahmanbaria, Habiganj, Moulvibazar, Sylhet, Sunamganj, Netrokona, Mymensingh, Kishoreganj, Narsingdi, Narayanganj, Munshiganj, Patuakhali, Barguna, Barishal, Bhola, and some surrounding areas during the same period.
Warning for Extreme Rainfall
The BWOT specifically warned of the possibility of very heavy rainfall in some parts of the Chattogram, Cox’s Bazar, and Bandarban districts and urged farmers in these areas to be especially cautious.
The BWOT further mentioned that this rainfall is anticipated due to the influence of a low-pressure system. Therefore, any updates may be subject to change depending on the movement of the low-pressure system.
