BMD Warns of Storms and Thunderstorms in 4 Coastal Districts by Evening

The Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) has warned that storms and thunderstorms with winds up to 60 kilometers per hour may hit four districts of the country by this evening. This information was included in a weather forecast issued for the country’s river ports, valid from 9:00 AM on Sunday (October 19th) until 6:00 PM.

River Port Forecast

The forecast, signed by Meteorologist Kazi Zebunnesa, states:

“Rain or thundershowers accompanied by squally winds are likely to occur over the regions of Noakhali, Cumilla, Chattogram, and Cox’s Bazar from the South/Southeast direction at a speed of 45 to 60 kilometers per hour (kph).”

River ports in these areas have been advised to hoist Signal No. 1 (Cautionary Signal).

Countrywide Forecast (120 Hours)

The latest 120-hour forecast for the entire country also mentions:

• Rain/Thundershowers: Rain or thundershowers are likely to occur at many places over the Chattogram and Sylhet divisions, and at one or two places over the Dhaka, Mymensingh, and Barishal divisions today.

• Dry Weather: Weather over the rest of the country is expected to remain mainly dry with temporary partly cloudy skies.

• Temperature: Night and day temperatures across the country are expected to remain nearly unchanged.
