Ittihad’s Role and Impact
• Foundation: Established in 2005, ‘Ittihad’ works towards maintaining unity, welfare, peace, and discipline among Bangladeshi students studying in Egypt.
• Membership: Currently, over three thousand Bangladeshi students are studying at Al-Azhar University and various other public universities in Egypt, a large portion of whom are directly associated with Ittihad.
• Services: The organization works closely with the Bangladesh Embassy in Cairo, providing administrative, legal, and academic assistance to students. It also regularly organizes educational workshops, cultural programs, sports events, Iftar gatherings during Ramadan, Eid reunions, and various other social and religious activities.
• International Recognition: Bangladeshi students have long demonstrated their talent and success at Al-Azhar University. Bangladeshi students have achieved the best results multiple times among students from nearly 147 countries worldwide, bringing international prestige to Bangladesh.
• Government Praise: Last year, during the Cairo visit of the Chief Advisor to the Government of Bangladesh, Dr. Muhammad Yunus, to attend the D-8 conference, he heard praise for Bangladeshi students from Egyptian government circles. ‘Ittihad’ played a crucial role in the overall coordination and management of Dr. Yunus’s historic visit to Al-Azhar University.
Bangladeshi students in Egypt anticipate that the new leadership will uphold the organization’s tradition of unity, service, and leadership, playing an even more effective role in the students’ welfare.
The sentiment echoing in the Cairo sky that day seemed to be: “We are Bangladeshi, We are united.”
