The incident occurred around 5:15 PM on Wednesday in the Hamzar Bagh area of Panchlaish, Chattogram.

BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir expressed strong condemnation and deep concern over the incident.

In a statement released on Wednesday, the BNP Secretary General demanded the immediate arrest and prosecution of those responsible for the attack on Ershad Ullah’s campaign rally.

• Location and Time: Local BNP leaders reported that Ershad Ullah was campaigning in the Hamzar Bagh area, seeking public support for the ‘Sheaf of Paddy’ (BNP’s election symbol), when he was shot.

• Other Injuries: Supporters of Ershad Ullah claimed that following the shooting by assailants who fled the scene, several other individuals were also injured.

Official Confirmation

Jasem Uddin, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of the Bayezid Bostami Police Station, confirmed the shooting incident. He stated, “Police are at the scene. I am heading to the hospital.”

Background: Ershad Ullah has been involved in Chattogram BNP politics for a long time and currently holds the position of Convener of the Chattogram Metropolitan BNP.
