BCB Operations Chairman Disappointed

BCB Operations Chairman Disappointed After Bangladesh’s T20 Whitewash Against West Indies

The Bangladesh cricket team was brimming with confidence after consecutive T20 series wins against Sri Lanka, Pakistan, Netherlands, and Afghanistan. However, Bangladesh suffered a shocking whitewash on their familiar home grounds against the West Indies.

The string of four consecutive T20 series victories has been abruptly broken, with batting failure emerging as the team’s biggest concern throughout the series.

Nazmul Abedin Faheem, Director and Chairman of Cricket Operations for the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB), expressed disappointment over the team’s performance.

Speaking to reporters in Mirpur, Faheem said:

“Our consistency faced a setback in this last T20 series. Winning four consecutive series is not easy, so although this failure is frustrating, it is not a major setback. We had hoped for better batting, but despite having the opportunities, we couldn’t score runs.”

Analysis of Batting Performance and Player Fatigue

Regarding the batsmen’s performance, Faheem noted:

“Saif (Hasan) couldn’t perform as before, but Tamim (Tanzid Hasan) played well. We were comfortable with Jaker and Sohan in the middle order, but we didn’t get any match-winning innings this time. The team is exhausted. Perhaps a little rest after playing continuously would have been beneficial.”

On the topic of player rest and rotation, Faheem stated:

“Rotation is underway among the pace bowlers. We are focusing not just on rest but also on developing new players, so that we don’t have to rely solely on the main eleven players.”

Addressing the poor form of Jaker Ali, he said:

“The pressure of expectation is perhaps taking its toll. New players can play with a free mind initially, but over time, the opposition plans for them. I hope Jaker finds a new way forward.”
