Dhaka Metropolitan Detective Branch (DB) police have arrested five leaders and activists belonging to the Awami League and its affiliated wings across various parts of the capital. Among those detained is a former mayor of Kaliakair Municipality in Gazipur.
The arrests were made during separate raids conducted from late last night (Tuesday) through the early hours of this morning (Wednesday). The Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) confirmed the details in a press release issued today.
The Arrested Individuals:
The five individuals taken into custody are:
• M. Robin Hossain (54): Former Mayor of Kaliakair Municipality and President of Kaliakair Municipal Awami League (Gazipur District).
• Isahaq Sikdar (63): Vice-President of Kachua Upazila Awami League and Central Krishak League member (Chandpur).
• Md. Istiak Milon (23): A known Bangladesh Chhatra League (student wing) activist.
• Ibrahim Ahmed Ripon (48): Vice-President of Shyampur Thana Awami League.
• Raihan Rahmatullah alias Rimu (50): Joint General Secretary of Madarganj Upazila Awami League (Jamalpur).
