Kylian Mbappé Wins First European Golden Boot Award
Real Madrid’s French star, Kylian Mbappé, has won the European Golden Boot award after becoming the highest goalscorer across all European competitions last season. He earned this prestigious honor by netting a total of 44 goals last season, including 31 in La Liga.
This marks the first European Golden Boot of Mbappé’s career. The specialized award is given to the player who scores the most goals in the major European leagues.
Award Ceremony and Mbappé’s Reaction
Mbappé was officially presented with the award on Friday (October 31st) at Real Madrid’s home ground, the Santiago Bernabéu, in the presence of his coach and teammates.
Upon receiving the award, Mbappé said: “Winning this award for the first time in my career is a huge achievement for me. It is a joy to play for Real, it was my childhood dream. I hope to play here for many more years. This would not have been possible without my teammates and the fans.”
Royal Madrid Legacy
Mbappé becomes only the third player from the Spanish giant club to win this award.
• Cristiano Ronaldo previously won the award during the 2014-15 season (and four times total in his career).
• Lionel Messi holds the record for the most European Golden Boots, winning it six times while playing for Barcelona.
Current Season Form
Mbappé is also currently the top goalscorer in La Liga this season, having scored 11 goals in 10 La Liga matches and a total of 16 goals in 13 matches across all competitions so far.
