Utility Relocation for MRT Line-1 Begins in North Badda and Badda Areas

The utility line relocation work, part of the construction of Dhaka Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) Line-1, is set to begin in the North Badda and Badda Metro Station areas of the capital, starting from 10:00 PM on Thursday, October 30th.

The Dhaka Mass Transit Company Limited (DMTCL) has warned that this work may cause temporary traffic congestion on the Bir Uttam Rafiqul Islam Sarani route.

This information was confirmed in a notice signed by Md. Aftab Hossain Khan, Project Director (Additional Charge) of MRT Line-1, on Wednesday (October 29th).

Project Details and Public Advisory

The notice stated that the construction work for the MRT Line-1 project, Bangladesh’s first underground metro rail, is advancing rapidly. This project, undertaken to alleviate traffic congestion and preserve the environment in Dhaka, is now initiating utility line relocation in the North Badda and Badda station areas.

• Advisory: Vehicles and the general public using the Bir Uttam Rafiqul Islam Sarani route are advised to use alternative routes during this time.

• Travel Time: Passengers are also urged to allow sufficient extra time for their journeys.

The DMTCL emphasized that public cooperation is essential for the smooth execution of government development work and expressed regret for any temporary inconvenience caused.
